WE BELIEVE AND DECLARE
- That there is one God, Creator and Lord of the universe, revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- That our Lord Jesus Christ, being in very nature God, was born into this world, died for our sins, was buried and on the third day was raised to life. He ascended to the right hand of God the Father, and will come again to reign in power and glory.
- That our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.
- That the Bible is the inspired Word of God, revealing his plan for us through Jesus Christ. We therefore accept it as our rule of faith and conduct, and claim freedom under the leading of the Holy Spirit to interpret and put into practice God's Word.
- That Christian baptism is the immersion in water, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, of those who have professed repentance toward God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
- That it is both our privilege and responsibility to encourage and support one another in our ongoing Christian life and witness.
- That our mission is to take the life changing message of Jesus Christ to all who are outside the Church, with the goal that they become his loyal disciples.
We are a member of the Evangelical Alliance. Below is the Basis of Faith as defined by the Evangelical Alliance, to which we wholly subscribe.
Basis of Faith 1970
- Evangelical Christians accept the revelation of the triune God given in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and confess the historic faith of the Gospels therein set forth.
- They here assert the doctrines which they regard as crucial to the understanding of the faith, and which should issue in mutual love, practical Christian service and evangelistic concern.
- The sovereignty and grace of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in creation, providence, revelation, redemption and final judgement.
- The divine inspiration of the holy Scripture and its consequent entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
- The universal sinfulness and guilt of fallen man, making him subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
- The substitutionary sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as the sole all-sufficient ground of redemption from the guilt and power of sin, and from its eternal consequences.
- The justification of the sinner solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ crucified and risen from the dead.
- The illuminating, regenerating, indwelling and sanctifying work of God the Holy Spirit. The priesthood of all believers who form the universal Church, the Body of which Christ is the Head and which is committed by His command to the proclamation of the gospel throughout the world.
- The expectation of the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory.
